About the Center for Global Health

T

he Center for Global Health was founded in 2017 by the Professors Andrea Winkler and Clarissa Prazeres da Costa. It is based at the medical faculty of TUM and is financed and supported by the Department of Neurology, Klinikum rechts der Isar / TUM and the Institute for Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Hygiene at TUM. The Center is concerned with the promotion of health as well as with the prevention of ill-health at a global level. It aims to make a positive contribution to reaching the Sustainable Development Goals.

The activities of the Center include teaching, the establishment of collaborative projects that address relevant research questions in Global Health, as well as active participation in initiatives driving Global Health policy in Germany and beyond. 

To make a significant and sustainable contribution to Global Health and to strengthen Germany’s role in this endeavour.

To channel the expertise and resources of the TUM to advance the Global Health Agenda in Germany and beyond

  • To be the central point of contact for Global Health at TUM
  • To provide a platform that facilitates and encourages exchange and communication for research excellence with regards to Global Health and to bring together TUM internal and external partners
  • To engage and inspire students by offering Global Health teaching
